| The Star Blade is now one of our best selling needle styles. The Star Blade is much different in appearance and performance compared to a traditional triangular bladed felting needle. The most obvious difference is in the shape of the blade section. With the Star Blade, we have created a needle that has an additional apex in which to place barbs. The blade of the needle has a star-like shape resulting in four barbed apexes. These four apexes result in more aggressive needlepunching and much improved interlocking of fiber. Normally, a needle designed for higher fiber interlocking will also result in a deterioration of the fabric surface. The Star Blade, however, achieves remarkably good surface appearance. Some customers use this needle design to produce products such as coated substrates, and automotive headliners. Not surprisingly, the Foster Star Blade is utilized world wide on a great number of needlepunched fabrics. Many of our customers are using this needle to produce geotextile fabrics. In fact, the Star Blade is the best selling geotextile needle in the USA. Higher tensile strengths in the geotextile industry are constantly sought after. The Star Blade has helped many needlepunchers increase the strength of their fabrics, as well as increase line speeds.
